Rice bug

Caused by: Leptocorisa oratorius F. and Leptocorisa acuta Thunberg
Problem Category: Insect
Symptoms: Sucking at milky stage result in spots on grains with spoiled quality.
Comments: : Adults are slender greenish brown bug. They emit unpleasant odour. Flat eggs laid in rows
Management: 1. Population builds up during cloudiness and drizzles but heavy rain controls. Spray 5% neem seed kernel suspension to repel adults from laying eggs. 2. Weed control to avoid alternate hosts.
Control: 1. Keep fermented snail or crab bait @ 10/ac. to attract and divert pests from sucking milk of rice grain. 2. The extract of 1kg garlic + 200g tobacco leaves + 200g washing powder sprayed over one 1 ac. area during milky stage of rice controls 80% gundhi bug.
