Brown spot

Caused by: Helminthosporium oryzae (Cochliobolus miyabeanus)
Problem Category: Fungal Disease
Symptoms: The leaves how oval shaped spots with yellow halo these spots gradually turn into Reddish Brown ring with grey center . Severely affected field presents a reddish appearance. Grains with brown/ black spots get discolored.
Comments: Favourable Conditions: High relative humidity (>90%) with temperature between 25OC to 30OC and heavy and late North East Monsoon.
Management: 1. Seed treatment with Beejamruth or cattle dung + urine + asafoetida solution. 2. Correction of soil acidity by application of lime (0.5 Kg/ Sq.m)
Control: 3. Appply to the field - Vadisaku (Cleistanthus collinus) leaves 10 quintals, incorporate and allow to decompose in the field. 4. Applying ash over the field to prevent spread of the disease.
